Study Case 1: IBERDROLA

Iberdrola recognizes as a strategic objective equal opportunities, non-discrimination and respect for diversity, promoting a favorable environment facilitating measures to reconcile personal and work life, respecting in each case the current legislation of each country and its best practices. In this line, Iberdrola includes in its policies the "Policies for Conciliation and Equality of Opportunities", approved by the Board of Directors, which promotes the commitments of equal treatment between men and women with regard to access to employment, vocational training and promotion and working conditions, and support for workers with diminished capacity, ensuring their effective occupation.

After adhering to the Global Compact, the Iberdrola Group has committed itself to non-discrimination based on race, sex, ideology, nationality, religion, sexual orientation or any other personal, physical or social condition of its professionals, and to promote equality of opportunities between them. On the other hand, within the Values and Principles regulated in the Iberdrola Code of Ethics, the principles of equality, conciliation and diversity are included.

The Foundation for Diversity, with the technical and operational support of the Alares Foundation, as well as the collaboration and sponsorship of a group of companies in which Iberdrola has been an integral part, has collaborated in the dissemination of the so-called "Forums of Diversityā€¯ that began in 2010, aiming to give an approach where the participating companies wanted to transmit their best practices in the area of Diversity, including in this first format the more general aspects: Functional diversity, cultural diversity, gender diversity and diversity and innovation.

Iberdrola, aware of the importance of the management of diversity in a broad sense, has decided to give adequate training to its human capital of its company, during this last years in its different aspects. The company has established itself as an international company, with more than 30,000 employees in over 40 countries, so that cultural diversity has taken a leading role. Within the Human Resources policies cultural diversity has acquired a new dimension, reason why within the model of leadership has been included as one of the dimensions of the competences of the Management Team. Managers are not only a transmitter of the values of the company but must know their teams and their diversity in order to manage their individuals with a common goal.
